Geri has worked in the social work and counselling field for more than 35 years. She has had various roles, such as a youth worker, juvenile probation officer, community worker, counsellor focusing in areas of domestic violence and trauma, in management at a second stage women's shelter and is now working part-time as a counsellor for the women in the shelter.
One of the biggest rewards that Geri has derived from counselling has been to journey with people as they grow in knowing God more fully and as they experience the power of the grace of Jesus’ sacrifice in their lives. She has the privilege to walk along side people who want to grow and heal from the wounds they experienced as children and adults. These people have become her heroes and have taught her much about hope and resilience.
In her time away from school she enjoys gardening, hiking, bicycling, riding her motorbike, painting and reading fiction. She is a member of a church called The Lantern and enjoys the small, family like atmosphere as well as the contemporary worship every Sunday. She has remained single throughout her life and enjoys spending time with her niece and nephews, other family members and her friends.
