Professor Emeritus Dr. Edward Oke (1935-2022)

Ed OkeRMC Professor Emeritus Dr. Edward Oke passed away on January 3, 2022 after struggling with health issues. Ed had a long and fruitful ministry in Christian Higher Education beginning as President of Mountain View Bible College in 1963 and closing when he served as Academic Dean at Rocky Mountain College in Calgary from 1992 - 2001.

Ed was a favorite prof of many and loved to pass his passion for the New Testament and the Greek language to the next generation of leaders. Undergrad students brought Ed much joy as he watched them grow in faith and in their knowledge and abilities to work through decisions about how to invest their life serving others.

Dr. Oke was a key figure in the merging of Hillcrest Christian College and Mountain View Bible College to form Rocky Mountain College in 1992. His leadership helped to set the genetic code for Rocky, much of which remains today. As well, many faculty and staff benefited from his leadership during that time.

On behalf of Rocky Mountain College, we extend our condolences and prayers to Janette and her family and we express our thankfulness for his investment in so many lives.

Joel, a student at Briercrest College and Seminary, says that Pathways has “made me feel like one of their own. Robert Harris was coming through Swift Current and even as a visiting student he took the time to have breakfast with me. He was very encouraging and was a blessing to have spent time with.”

We want to share with you our excitement for a new way of learning at Rocky Mountain College.

Pathways is our new “distributed learning” model. It is taking our classroom courses out of the box, and down the road to where you are.

With our focus on discipleship, leadership and social care, Pathways now enables students, professionals, and life-long learners, to take advantage of our programs and courses no matter where they are.

Courses are available to Anyone. Anywhere. Anytime. Often times God speaks to us and we yearn for a richer life. But obstacles appear.

Pathways is about removing obstacles and allowing access to quality learning experiences. We foster changed lives both locally and globally.

It is our hope that we can show you a new pathway to learning, ministry and a richer, more meaningful life. Thank you for exploring RMC’s Pathways program.
